CLOSING EVENT TO RECONCILIATION MEETING IN SOUTH MUDUG RURAL COMMUNITIES

The eight days meeting involving two feuding clans of Sacad and Leelkase in south Mudug came to a close on 12th June 2020.
 
The meeting achieved many goals and objectives as intended.
 
Many resolutions were attained through a mutual agreement by the two clans; the meeting adopted 5 resolutions as follows:
– Both clans to share the common resources like boreholes, pasture and wells
– Each family of the 40 people killed during the skirmishes between the 2 clans should be paid $38,0000.
– Both clans to spearhead peace campaigns in their areas and especially the East Mudug which has been epicenter of the clashes.
– Both clans to attend all future meetings, Senator Abdi Qaybdiid on behalf of the Sacad clan apologized on the failure of the clan to attend Balibusle meeting and they promised to attend all future meetings.
– All parties agreed to organize the next reconciliation meeting in Balibusle (East Mudug) on 25th June 2020
 
The meeting was attended by 300 delegates from the two feuding clans, community and religious leaders, army officials, politicians, youth representatives and mediators from federal government including officials from Puntland and Galmudug states and PSA/CPD management & Technical team.
 
The meeting was made successful by the close collaboration of CPD/PSA and the Somali Stability Fund (SSF).
